Emoluments for the post of Clerical Cadre: Pay Scale: Rs 4,410-13,210 (Under revision) Approx. total emoluments at the start of the scale will be Rs. 7,000/- (approx) inclusive of DA, CCA & HRA at Metropolitan Centre.
In addition Medical Aid, Hospitalisation Scheme, Leave Fare Concession, Retirement benefits are admissible as per Bank’s rules.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification: (As on 01.01.2009) Degree in any discipline from a Recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Or A pass with 50% marks in HSC examination of 10+2 (10+2+3) pattern/11th Std. of (11+1+3) pattern or Intermediate/Pre-University or any equivalent examination/diploma in banking recognized by Central/State Government or U.T. administration. Or A pass with 60% marks in the aggregate in Matriculation/SSC (old pattern)/SSLC/10th Std. examination of 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent.
For SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PWD, the educational qualification is relaxed as below:
A pass in HSC examination (10+2) of 10+2+3 pattern/11th Std examination of 11+1+3 pattern/Pre-University or equivalent examination. Or A pass with 50% marks in the aggregate in matriculation/SSC (old pattern) SSLC/10th Std. in (10+2+3) pattern or equivalent examination.
Note: For Ex-Servicemen (who do not possess the above) a pass in service (Departmental) Examination which is recognized to civil examination not below the rank of Higher Secondary School Examination.
All educational qualifications should be from Recognized University/Central/State/U.T. Administration.
Should be able to write and speak English fluently.
Knowledge to read, write and speak the official language of the state for which the candidate has applied is essential.
Computer Literacy-Apart from relevant qualification for the above post, computer literacy shall be an essential qualification, which the candidate must either possess or acquire within six months of joining the Bank.
Definition of Ex-Servicemen (EXSM): Ex-Servicemen – Only those candidates shall be treated as Ex-servicemen who fulfills the revised definition as laid down in Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Notification No. 36034/5/85 Estt. (SCT) dated 27.01.86 as amended from time to time.

Relaxation of Upper Age Limit
SC/ST candidates: 5 Years

Ex-Servicemen in addition to the actual period of service in the defence forces subject to a maximum age of 50 years: 3 Years
Widows, Divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried: 09 Years

Note: In case of a candidate who is eligible for relaxation under more than one of the above categories, the age relaxation will be available on cumulative basis with any one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted as mentioned above. This cumulative age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates only.
Probation: On appointment, candidates will be on probation for a minimum period of 6 months. On successful completion of the probation, and if found suitable, they will be confirmed in the services of Bank
Selection Procedure: Selection will be made on the basis of performance in Written Test and Interview. Details of Written Test and Interview are as under:
Written Test: a. Objective Test: The Objective tests consists of (i) Test of Reasoning ability (ii) Test of English Language (iii) Test of Numerical Ability (iv) Test of Clerical Aptitude. There will be negative marks for the wrong answers in the objective test. The candidates shall be required to qualify in the objective test separately. Test of English is qualifying and carries no Weightage in the total marks for the Written Test. The time duration will be 95 minutes and each test will be of 50 questions.
b. Descriptive Test – It will consist of 5 compulsory questions with internal options, to assess knowledge of Socio-Economic Developments and Communication Skills. The descriptive test is only a qualifying test.
c. Candidates have option to answer Descriptive Test paper either in English or Hindi or in the Official Language of the State/Union Territory for which they have applied.
d. Candidates have to pass in each of the Objective & Descriptive Tests separately.
e. Depending upon the number of candidates against the vacancies only those candidates, who rank sufficiently high in the objective test will be called for interview. Mere eligibility/pass in the test shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview.
f. Other detailed information regarding the written examination will be given in the information booklet, which will be made available to the candidates along with the call letter.

Interview: Those short listed candidates in the order of ranking in the written test as per the cut-off marks determined by the Bank shall be called for interview and the decision of the Bank in this regard shall be final. Final selection will be on the basis of the ranking accorded after adding the marks obtained in the Written Test and Interview.
Call Letters for the Written Examination: The date of the Written Test is 24/05/2009 (Sunday). The date of written test will be intimated in the call-letter along with the Centre/Venue for the examination. All eligible candidates will be issued call-letters at the correspondence address given by them in their application, which will be sent by post. Candidates who do not receive call letter by 16/05/2009 should contact in person at the address for the respective Centers given in Annexue ‘A’ along with copy of Application, Registration No.

How to Apply: Candidates are required to apply on-line through website http://www.centralbankofindia.co.in/ No other means/mode of applications will be accepted. Last date for receipt of system generated printout of the applications is 23/03/2009. Application link from website will be open from 14/02/2009 to 14/03/2009.
The guidelines for filling applications on-line is given as under:
The candidate should have their Demand Draft ready before applying on-line, as the DD details are required to be entered in the on-line application, without the valid DD details, data will not be registered. The DD should not be dated before 14/02/2009 and not after 14/03/2009. Even if the Bank extends the date of on-line registration by one or two days, the valid dates of demand draft will not be changed.
After applying on-line, the registered candidates should obtain a system generated printout of the application. The system generated printout of the application should be signed by the candidate and sent along with:
(1) The application fees in the form of DD favouring “Central Bank of India – Recruitment of Clerks 2009” payable at Mumbai for Rs. 50/- (Fifty only) for SC/ST/PWD/EXSM candidates and Rs. 250/- (Two hundred & fifty only) for other candidates.
(2) Required certificate/testimonials.
(3) Photograph pasted in the given place and signed across.
The application should reach the following address by 23/03/2009. The application posted from abroad and far-flung areas will be accepted till 30/03/2009, provided that the DD is dated on or after 14/02/2009 but on or before 14/03/2009.
