Out of the total 500 vacancies, detailed above, the required vacancies are reserved for eligible Ex-serviceman as per GOI guidelines.
The reservation for persons with disabilities (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (XSM) is on horizontal basis. The selected candidates will be placed in the appropriate category (viz. SC, ST, OBC, unreserved etc.) to which they belong.
Relaxation in upper age limit
SC/ST candidates – 5 years, OBC – 3 years, Persons domiciled in J&K – 5 years, PwD – 10 years, Ex-servicemen – 3 years (in addition to the usual period of service in the Defence forces subject to a maximum age of 50 years)
Eligibility criteria
Nationality/citizenship: A candidate must be either (i) a citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Govt. of India. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/interview conducted by the IBPS/Bank but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Govt. of India.
Educational qualifications as on 01.07.2009
Probationary Clerks: Pass with minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Higher Secondary examination/10+2 of 10+2+3 pattern or its equivalent from a recognized University/Board/ Central/State/UT administration (or) Degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Board/ Central/State/UT administration
Selection Procedure
Probationary clerks: Written test and interview
Written test: The written test will consist of an objective test as well as a Descriptive test.
Objective test: Test of reasoning ability – 50 questions carrying 80 marks, Numerical aptitude – 50 questions carrying 80 marks, Test of English language – 50 questions carrying 50 marks, Four papers – 200 questions carrying 260 marks
260 marks for a duration of 1 hour and 35 minutes
Descriptive test: Assessment of – Higher order cognitive abilities, wealth of ideas in a logical coherent manner and communication skills, Details of the test – 5 compulsory questions with internal options for 100 marks, Duration – 1 hour option to answer either in Hindi or English or the official language of the State, Qualifying marks – Minimum 40% (35% for SC/ST candidates) but marks so obtained are not reckoned for merit ranking

The fees should be paid by DD/Pay order favouring ‘Vijaya Bank Recruitment Project-2009 (Probationary Clerks)’ payable at Mumbai only. Please note that Cash, Cheques, Money orders, postal stamps etc will not be accepted. Candidate’s name and date of birth should be written on the reverse of the DD/Pay order.
The demand draft/pay order should not be dated before 10.09.2009 and not after 01.10.2009 (including for those applying from far flung areas).
General instructions: Education qualifications – The qualifications prescribed for the post are the minimum. Candidates must possess the qualifications as on 01.07.2009
Probation period: Six months
How to apply: Candidates are required to apply on-line through the Bank’s website www.vijaybank.com. No other means/mode of applications will be accepted.

Written examination and call letters: The date of the written examination is tentatively fixed as follows
Probationary clerks – 20.12.2009, However, it will be intimated in the Call letter along with the centre/venue for the examination, well in advance of the date of written examination
All eligible candidates will receive call letters by post at the correspondence address given by the candidate in their print-out/application form.
Call letter for written examination will be sent to the eligible candidates at the correspondence address given in their ‘print-outs of the computer generated On-line application’ by ordinary post and requests for sending letters to a different address subsequently will not be entertained
Call letter for written examination if not received by 15.12.2009, may contact the Deputy General Manager – Personnel, Vijaya Bank, Head office, Personnel Department (HRD), 41/2, M.G.
