State Bank of India (SBI) requires 500 Management Executives - 2009 Recruitment


Applications are invited from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers in State Bank of India (SBI). Candidates selected for existing vacancies are liable to be posted anywhere in India.

VACANCIES : SC-525, ST-262, OBC-945, Gen-1768, Total - 3500. 53 vacancies for OH category & 52 vacancies for VH category candidates are reserved horizontally. Vacancies including reserved vacancies are provisional and may vary according to the requirements of the Bank.

1. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : (AS ON 01/07/2008)
(a) Educational Qualifications:
General Candidates and others - 60% or more marks in class XII and 55% or more marks in Graduation or
Post Graduation.
SC/ST/PWD Candidates - 55% or more marks in class XII and 50% or more marks in Graduation or Post Graduation.
Computer Literacy - Proficiency in computer (Certificate from a reputed Institute or having computer as a subject in class XII or Graduation).

(b) Age Limit:
Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.07.2008
(c) Relaxation in the Upper Age Limit to Reserve category candidates Upper age is relaxable by
(a) 3 years in the case of OBC candidates.
(b) 5 years in the case of : i) SC/ST candidates. ii) Ex-servicemen (including Emergency
Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers) provided applicants have rendered at least five years continuous Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or /on account of physical disability or have been released on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or on invalidment iii) Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1st January, 1980 and 31st December, 1989.
c) 10 years for VH/OH (Gen); 13 years for VH/OH (OBC) and 15 years for VH/OH (SC/ ST) candidates.

NOTE : CUMULATIVE AGE RELAXATION WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE EITHER UNDER THE ABOVE ITEMS OR IN COMBINATION WITH ANY OTHER ITEMS.


Selection Procedure
a) Tier I - Preliminary Examination : Time 2 Hrs. (combined)
Candidates will be called for an objective type examination. The objective type examination will consist of i) Reasoning Ability Test, ii) Quantitative Aptitude, iii) General Awareness/Computer Knowledge, iv) English Language. Question paper will be in bilingual form i.e. in Hindi and English except the test of English language.

b) Tier II - Main Test* : Time 3 Hrs. (combined)
This will be an Objective and Descriptive type examination.

The objective type examination of 2 hours duration will consist of :
i) Test of Reasoning
ii) Data Analysis and Interpretation
iii) Marketing Knowledge
iv) Test of English Language
The Descriptive type examination will be a test of English knowledge - Time 60 Minutes
C) Tier III - Group Discussion & Interview :

Qualifying candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview and have to secure 40% (35% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks i.e. Group Discussion and Interview put together to be eligible for selection.
Tier II and Tier III marks will be agreegated and arranged in the descending order for candidates who have qualified in both the tiers and depending on the vacancies, selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Candidates will have to pass both in Tier II & Tier III for final selection.
Results of the candidates who have qualified for Tier III and thereafter the list of candidates finally selected will be available on the Bank's website in addition to publication in Employment

Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of two years. They will draw a starting basic pay of Rs.11,880/- In the scale of Rs.10,000-470/6-12820-500/3-14320-560/7-18240 applicable to Officers Junior Management Grade Scale I. They will also be eligible for D.A., H.R.A. & C.C.A. as per rules in force from time to time. At present, initial monthly emoluments of Probationary Officers, including D.A., H.R.A. and C.C.A., are approximately Rs.16,850/- at Metropolitan centres.

All applications for the post will be registered online . The online applications will be registered between 14th July & 16th August 2008.
Candidates are  required to go to any CBS  branch of  State Bank of India and pay the amount of fees and get receipt from the branch. The  candidates are required to apply online through website www.statebankofindia.com No other means / mode of application will be accepted. Application registration on our website will be open from 14.07.2008 to 16.08.2008.GUIDELINES FOR FILLING APPLICATION ARE AS UNDER :
 
  • Candidates should have a valid email id.
  • Candidates should have the Deposit Journal No. (receipt of payment of fees ) from CBS branch of State Bank of India before applying online.
  •  The payment of fees should be  made on or before 16.08.2008. This date will be same for the candidates belonging  to far–flung areas.
  • The candidates should enter his /her  name exactly as it appears on the payment receipt.
  • Candidate should note down the Registration no. and the Password for future reference.
  • Candidate should take a printout of the system generated application form for future reference.
  • Candidate should also keep the original payment receipt alongwith the printout.
