About RBI: It was established on April 1, 1935. The central office of RBI is in Mumbai. It was nationalized in 1949. The preamble: “…to regulate the issue of Bank Notes and keeping of reserves with a view to securing monetary stability in India and generally to operate the currency and credit system of the country to its advantage.”
The function of RBI is to supervise the financial sector comprising Banks, Financial institutes and Non-Banking finance companies. It also manages foreign trade.
Eligibility: Candidate must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal & Bhutan, Tibetan refugee (who came to India before January 1, 1962).
A candidate must be of the age 21 to 30 years (candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/07/1979 and not later than 01/07/1988).

Education Required:
1. A first class Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 60% marks.
OR
2. A second class Master’s degree with minimum of 55% marks.
OR
3. A doctorate degree with 50% marks in Master’s degree.
OR
4. Chartered accountant or Company secretariat with Bachelor’s degree.
OR
5. A post graduated diploma in Management only from IIM (Any).
Note: SC/ST candidates with a second class Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks or a PGDM are eligible to apply.

No. of posts
: A total of 79 vacancies are available which are further distributed among different categories.
There are 2 vacancies for visually handicapped (VH) and 5 are for Hearing impaired (HI).
Pay scale: The starting basic pay is Rs. 13,700. Various allowances will also be given like Dearness allowance, Local allowance, House allowance etc. The monthly gross salary will be around Rs. 22000.

Selection procedure
: All the candidates will undergo the written test. The written test will be conducted in two phases:
Phase I: This paper is objective type test. Duration of this exam will be 3 Hours.
The paper is all about candidate’s General awareness, English language, Quantative aptitude and Reasoning. The exam is of 200 marks
Date of Exam: October 11, 2009.
Phase II: This test is of descriptive nature and will be conducted in three parts in early 2010. The date and time will be intimated later to candidates. The syllabus for this exam can be attained from the website.
Special training for the preparation of the tests will be provided to SC/ST candidates. For this they have to fill up an application form available on the website.

How to apply:
An application fee of Rs. 100 is to be paid in the form of a Demand Draft favouring RBI payable only at Mumbai. There is no fee for SC/ST/PH candidates. Candidates residing in un-banked areas may pay it through postal order payable at GPO,Mumbai.
The name and address must be written at the back of the DD.
The application must be sent to General Manager, RBI Services Board. Post Bag No.14501.Mumbai central post office. Mumbai 400008 by ordinary post only.
The envelope must be super scribed with “App. for the post of Officers in Gr.’B'(DR)”.
Last date for receipt of application is August 24, 2009.
Note: For those living in remote areas last date is August 31, 2009.
